The island of St. Lucia is a beautiful Caribbean island of volcanic origin situated between the islands of St. Vincent and Martinique, which are both visible on a clear day. This tropical paradise is 27 miles long and 14 miles wide with an average temperature of 27 C (80F), with a rainy season ranging from June to November. The tourist season generally runs from December to May as this is the perfect time to enjoy the island and all it has to offer. St. Lucia is home to the world’s only drive in volcano, as well as picturesque Pitons, twin mountain peaks that have attained the status of a World Heritage site. The island is well known for its beautiful botanical flower gardens, waterfalls, mineral baths and unspoiled beaches.

The main language on St. Lucia is English, while the St. Lucians speak a French Creole.

The currency is Eastern Caribbean (EC) which is linked to the US Dollar at a rate of 1 US $ to 2.70 EC$, however American dollars are also widely accepted on the island.

The electric voltage used on St. Lucia is 240volt/50Hz, but most hotels have converted to 220 volt. There are a few hotels on the island that are 110volt/60cycle.  Adapters are readily available.

St. Lucia is a safe island, with the normal precautions taken as anywhere else in the world. The people are friendly and the atmosphere relaxing. The spiced rum produced on the island is something that must be tried, with its very unique island spices making it very tasty and refreshing drink.  The island produces and exports a variety of fresh fruits such as bananas and coconut, and cocoa is produced and exported as well.
